Windows 10: Device Host Name and IP Resolution Issues

One of my 3 Win11 computers host name is not showing up correctly on the network.Let's call the problem machine "Bob".On the 2 good PCs, "Bob" is shown in the Network section of File Explorer, but when I try to access it, I get the error "Windows cannot access \\Bob" - "Error code 0x80070035 - The network path is not found."From the command line, if I ping "Bob", they both try to ping the SAME wrong IP addressinging bob.myfiosgateway.com [192.xxx.xxx.13]...which is not Bob's IP address, nor does it appear to be assigned to any device by the router.No wonder File Explorer can find the network

  Press Windows + X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Select Devices and Printer.
  
• 
  Then click on "Add a printer" then choose printer wasn't listed then "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or host name.

Nokia C3 Host/Device Name?

Thanks for the replies.



I forgot about my Asus WL-330gE, which has been languishing unused in an old notebook case. I set it up as an AP.



Here is what the C3 shows up as in an IP scan (MAC purposely obscured).



Status Name IP Mfgr MAC

Ok 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.100 Nokia Corporation XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX



It appears that the C3 has no host name. Very interesting.



When MAC filtering is enabled, my router requires a match between registered host names and MAC addresses or it won't allow connections. If I change the host name of a wireless device, the connection will be denied, even though the MAC is registered.



Perhaps I will try setting a DHCP reservation for the C3 and then try setting the IP as the host name.

It works.



I set up a DCHP reservation for the MAC address, setting the host name as the IP address.



Then I went and registered the IP address as the host name associated with MAC address for MAC filtering.



The C3 connects without problems.
