Windows 10: Device Manager > Print Queues Empty

Hi all

I have a friend who wanted help to install his USB printer, but after over a stupid hour of trying to get it to work and event detected it either came up with print was error and wont print or print was paused, eventually I went to check Printer spooler to clear it out and also ofc to restart it.

That unfortunately did nothing so I went into device Manager I saw printer HP 8150 on hp 8100 series drivers BUT all the other icons under Print queues were empty like Fax>Microsoft print to pdf>Microsoft XPS Document writer etc etc, were not there.

How or where should I start to resolve this issue, any windows repair tool that can do it, or can program&features and add remove windows programs Printers unblock it restart and tick it on again, or is there any other way I might be missing.

Print Queues in Device Manager.


I really don't remember if these existed in Windows 8.x or Windows 7, but this isn't the issue. What I find when I start up Windows 10 it takes about 2-3 minutes for Print Queues to even show up in DM. I am assuming you need to have a printer (Duh).

I have two entries under Print Queues:

1. My Brother AIO printer.
2. Root Print Queue. (whatever this is)

When you guys start up Windows 10 and open up DM does anyone else notice that Print Queues takes awhile to appear? I'm more curious than concerned. I am wondering what's going on under the hood to make these entries appear 'late' considering everything else in DM appears very quickly.

I wonder if something is slowing down the process as it regards to Print Queues. Btw... AFAIK there is nothing in my print queues that still need printing unless there are phantom print jobs hiding there.

Hi all. I hope someone can help me since i upgraded to windows 10. I cant print, in device manager it has the root print queue listed in Other Devices with a little blue question mark on it.

I have attempted to uodate the driver via windows uldate but still doesnt work.

Anyone had this or know how to fix it.

The print queue is full windows 10

I had this same thing happen to me.

When I tried to print I would get an error saying that the print queue was full. There were no files in the print queue. There were also no printers listed in 'Devices and Printers.'

No need to reformat! Here's how I fixed mine:

I noticed that If I opened a print dialogue, the printers were listed.

• Open Print Dialog from an app (i.e. Notepad)
• Right Click on a printer and select Printer Properties
• Open Ports tab
• Change port to 'file.'
• Delete Port
  • If you get an error that the resource is in use:
    • Open the other printer properties pages
    • Change the other printers to 'file'
    • Delete ports
  • 
    As you delete ports, you will see the print queues repopulate into device manager as well as printers should now show up in 'Devices and Printers."

  Remake the needed Ports.
  

In my case they were all HP TCP/IP Ports.
