Windows 10: Device not migrated: Acer Laptop not recognising external Samsung monitor

Hi, one day my laptop no longer recognised my monitor when I plugged in my hdmi cable into my monitor.


Looking at the monitor driver, I think this is what is causing it:


Device DISPLAY\AUO293C\4&466a757&3&UID265988 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.


Based on things I've read online I've done the following to try and resolve the issue but nothing has worked :

• updated laptop to most recent Windows 10 Home
• checked cables and monitor with another laptop to show laptop is not working and everything else is
• windows button + ctr +shift +b
• updated display adapters
• deleted then reinstalled display adapters
• updated monitor driver
• found Samsung monitor specific driver and installed
• called Microsoft help desk, got redirected to the Europe help line, then the line ended

Laptop model: Acer Aspire R14

Monitor model: Samsung BX2031


Would really appreciate some help as my laptop screen is broken so I can only see half, which is why I was relying on the monitor. Would be so grateful if you could spare some time to help a stressed student.

Monitor connected to laptop: Device not migrated

Thank you for your suggestion. I've tried the ways in the link but still no luck. My problem is my laptop can detect my monitor correctly but there is a event "Device not migrated" , I guess there is no signal received by the monitor.

1. Since when are you facing this issue?
   

This issue might be happening because of the faulty drivers. That’s the reason you are getting intermittent connection on external monitor.

However, you may try the below suggested steps.

Step 1: Try connecting on a different monitor and check if the issue still persists.

Step 2: Try using a different VGA cable to connect with external monitor and check the status of the issue.

Step 3: Update display driver adapters

You may refer the article
Update drivers in Windows 10 and check the status of the issue.

Step 4: Check for an updated Video driver on the

Acer drivers and Manuals page.

Laptop suddenly stopped recognizing the external monitor

To assist you better, I would like to ask if the laptop is unable to recognize only the external monitor or other external devices also.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.
