Windows 10: Device Setup Error - 0x8024001e

I'm trying to set up a new Surface Laptop, 7th Edition, Snapdragon X elite with 16GB Go RAM, Gt RAM and 512GB Go Gt Model #2036 and am getting an error on the 'Setting up for work or school' page.Device Preparation is completed but under 'Device setup' I am getting the following information.Security policies 1 of 1 appliedCertificates No setup neededNetwork connections No setup neededApps 0x8024001eI am unable to get past this screen, as my only options are 'Reset device' and 'Try again'.Other community questions regarding this error give directions as though I am able to access the r

Exactly what version of Windows 10 are you using?
In the taskbar search box type: winver and then hit ENTER

For example I am on version 19042.844

I understand you are unable to install updates and you get a error code "0x8024001e".

This might be caused due to following reasons:

• Update broken.
• Virus or malware infection.

Please follow the steps below and check if it helps:

• Restart the computer.
• Open command prompt with administrator privilege
• Windows Key + X and turn on the command line (Admin)
• Type in the command line:
  
  net stop wuauserv
  
  rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old
  
  net start wuauserv
• Now restart the computer and try to install updates and check if it helps.

Windows update Error encounted 0x8024001e

I've been getting this error. I did retry with no luck.




I looked in history and it would seem this is the failed item under other updates with error 0x8024001e

All OK now . I ran sfc/ scannow and the error went. I ran update and it installed fine.
