Limited WiFi Connectivity on Ralink RT3290 Driver on Windows 10 Pro

Hmm. In my control panel (latest W10), there is no "click to repair". There is a "network reset" is that the same thing?

Limited WiFi Connectivity on Ralink RT3290 Driver on Windows 10 Pro

    Hi,

I am running Windows 10 on a HP Pavillion 11 x360PC with Ralink RT3290 adapter. My machine was failing/slow to connect on local wifi whereas my wife's HP Pavillion G6 was connecting without problems. Her machine uses a Realtek adapter.

I came across a solution at the following link :-

SO, Atheros is used in many Notebooks [same as Laptop]. Looking at the specs for both doesn't show much difference. Was there an operational reason for changing?

    The Qualcomm/Atheros AR5V195 is a 802.11n 150Mbps (single stream) + Bluetooth 3.0 card:
Amazon.com: Atheros AR5B195 Wireless Bluetooth Half Hight PCI-E Card Single-chip 150 Mbps: Computers Accessories

    The Ralink RT3290 is a 802.11n 150Mbps (single stream) + Bluetooth 3.0 card:

If you want a upgrade, a Intel AC-7260.HMWWB.R or a Intel AC-7260.HMWG.R would be a upgrade as both are the same card, 867Mbps AC Dual Stream + Bluetooth 4.0 + WiDi

  6. well 1 my friends laptop broke ans he let me salvage all the pieces i wanted (his computer is a little bit more modern then mines)
and 2 i am having a odd wifi issue that i cant really seem to explain...
(i have my wifi card added to my list on my optimum account) When i connect to optimum/Xfinity wifi it more then often says
connected no internet connection and it would stay like that. it is EXTREMELY ANNOYING because the only way to fix it is to disable the wifi card for about 2-3 minutes and re enable it again and hope it connects this time around or reboot.
this issue seems to be only since windows 8.1+ but i suspect that it could be a faulty hotspot.
i have the new card in now and im testing various things on it now, two important things being tested are range and speed.
is its good ill keep it in.

I think Atheros should be better but no experience with Ralink so whichever one works better for you would be the better one.
