Windows 10: Did my PC break my mic?

One day when I was talking to people and my mic was working perfectly fine, my PC decided to shut off randomly on its own, probably due to overheating but it could be another reason. Anyway, ever since I turned my PC back on, my mic no longer picks up my voice. Usually unmuting and muting my mic on the headset will make a quick noise into the mic. If I unmute or mute my mic now, the noise still in fact picks up in my mic. But, this doesn't make any sense, because my mic doesn't pick up my voice or even just any sound in the real world anymore. If I talk really loud and close to the mic or blow into the mic, it will record it, but it only picks up 1% of volume to my mic.


My mic is already put to full volume so that isn't the issue and I also tried troubleshooting as well as making sure the cords are plugged into the PC aswell as possible. Is it stuck in some permanent mute mode or something? Or did my PC really just break my mic just from shutting off? Any help would be nice.

The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

Do you remember installing any break reminder software?



It looks like it is a pop up from a break reminder software.



I suggest you to look for this in Programs in features and uninstall it if do not use it.



Try the following steps:

• 
  Press Windows + R keys to open Run Command
  
• 
  Type Appwiz.cpl and hit enter
  
• 
  Search for the programs and un-install it.

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".
