Windows 10: Did my PC catch a virus?

    Did my PC catch a virus?


    So I returned to my PC yesterday, and found out that I can not click the search tab or do anything because some important system file was missing.

    Literally the only applications that worked was the search engines.

    I tried resetting my PC both locally and through the cloud, and even telling it wipe its drive completely. No luck, it said that it couldn’t.

    My current solution right now is to use the thumb drive method to reinstall windows.

    Still waiting for it to tell me that it’s done downloading.

    steps taken for infected Pc's.


    I was hoping someone could give me a list of step by step instructions you use as a guide to clean virus, malware...etc. so I can keep my PC clean if it gets infected.

    Virus...NOOOOO!

    Then its not a virus, i thought its a little strange that a virus was still going in safe mode. But i dont know what to suggest it could be? Are you using the same pc to connect to the internet, just with a linux partition?

    PC Build Steps

    Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??
