Windows 10: Did onedrive just get auto enabled on accounts after the latest update, April 2023?

Just before my son went back to Uni he checked his laptop and every file and folder under Documents had a red x against it. He has never signed in to onedrive. There was 25Gbytes of files under that Documents folder. The red x is indicating he has no space left, free 5GByte account. Only thing i can think of is that the latest update, done in the last week, has enabled onedrive and started moving files onto it without checking for space or asking first. As he had 25GBytes there is no way he was using onedrive before now.We took a backup of his Documents folder in the last week to a local NAS d

No onedrive

Hello Francis,

Doing the steps below to install the latest version of OneDrive may be able to help.

1. Download and install the latest version of OneDrive that's rolling out with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
2. Restart your computer.
3. After your computer restarts, select the Start button, search for “OneDrive”, and then select the OneDrive desktop app.
4. When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your personal account, or your work or school account, and then select Sign in.

 

No onedrive

Ok, success. Had to unlink account and sign in again to change location to my E: drive
