Windows 10: Difference between the two volume images in the boot.wim

In the Windows 10 DVD, there is a file called boot.wim which has two volume images almost equal named "Microsoft Windows PE" and "Microsoft Windows Setup".

I want to know what is their difference?

What is the difference between the two backups?

When i updated my software i backed up to memory card. took memory card out of phone and did the update. when i restored memory card info to phone everything was back to normal...contacts, notes, calendar events, wifi settings, etc etc.

then a few days later i wanted to delete my gps maps and reload them to see if i could get updated maps. to do this i was advised to wipe the memory card and then do a reset on the phone. So i backed up using PC suite backup function.

formatted memory card, reset phone, reloaded maps etc. then restored from pc suite. all my contacts, calender events, notes, wifi settings etc etc were gone.

SO in my experience for your purposes (updating software) i would back up to memory card amd remove it from phone (just in case).

What is the difference between the two backups?

It seems quite different that Symbian 7.xx, 8.xx and 9.xx, act differntly with the back up and restore. For Symbian 9.xx, I found that no matter how you back up you phone, it will not restore you phone at previous state correctly. If you back up everything
but setting by PC Suite, you will have all data back, except you previous installed program including themes. If you back up on memory card, you will get most out of content, only some programs will not back correctly. Then you have to uninstall and re-install
again.

Unfortunately, quite a number of people here report that they have had back up corrupted after upgrade N73, if you back up on memory card.

My suggestion is back up your phone by the latest version of PC Suite and on memory card too. You will have some spares anyway.
