Windows 10: Different errors when trying to install windows

Hi guys,
I'm having some trouble installing windows 10 on an asus x200ca. Linux installs perfectly, so I think the drive isn't completely ruined but I always get some error on the final step of the windows installation. When I download the iso from the actual windows page, it gives me the error "setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file", so I tried another iso and that one gives the error "Windows could not set the offline locale information. Error code 0x80FF0000". I've already ran sfc /scannow and chkdsk through the windows installation usb (btw, I've always used windows mediacreationtool or rufus to make bootable usb), and everything seems fine. Any idea why I keep having these problems and how it can be fixed?

I have just succeeded in loading Windows 10 on my laptop thanks to an article from PC Pro called How to get Window 10: Forcing the file download - It gives very clear instructions on using reg edit to make Windows Update offer the download and its brilliant.
The article is on the Alpha.com web site. Thank you Alpha. The added benefit is it did not uninstall or damage my installed programs

Thank you for replying and I was aware of installation by iso but I wanted to use the Windows update route because it keeps most of the existing programs and I believe the iso method is a clean start which removes all programs.

My experience is that when installing a previous update to 8.1 on another computer it failed totally and forced me to rebuild which removed my programs then when I tried to reinstall MS Office MS said I had installed it to many times and would not validate
it.

suggests:

Error 0x800FF0000 is caused due to disc failure.
This seems to be an issue due to insufficient drive space. It might be because you were trying to install onto a logical drive instead of a primary drive. The issue might be caused by the disk partition. You may access the link below which speaks about similar issue in the Technet forum and the resolution seems to be replace the hard drive with one having sufficient space or format the hard drive and then proceed with the installation.

You can do a basic check on your disk by booting your PC using Kyhi's boot disk (available from the top of the Software and Apps section) and running HD Tune (Health tab).

Also read thru this carefully and make sure you follow instructions related to partitions.

It was a bad HDD after all, had to get a new one. Thanks everyone for your help.

 

May I suggest how to protect yourself against the consequences of this? Use disk imaging routinely.

E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + external storage for disk image sets.

If your disk fails, is encrypted with ransomware, your PC is unbootable... you can still restore your image even to a new disk and carry on without having to do a clean install.
