Windows 10: Difficulty changing to a new email address

I have a new email address and want to change my old Microsoft email address.


I understand I have to create a new alias, then delete my old email address and then make the new alias the primary one.

The screen headed ''ADD AN ALIAS'' gives 2 options.

Create a new email address and add it as an alias BUT it has the suffix @outlook.com

The other option says ''add an existing email address as a Microsoft account alias''

When I input my new email address it says ''You can't add a work or school/university email address as an alias to a personal Microsoft account.

My new email address is one I already use on my Outlook account, I wonder if this is causing a problem.

Changing administrator email address

1) How do you access the Windows computer? Do you use Microsoft account or local account?

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Open PC settings, and click/tap on Accounts on the left side.
  
• 
  Click/tap on your account on the right side, click/tap on the More account settings online link at the top of the right side.
  
• 
  If this PC or device is not a trusted device, then you will be prompted to enter and submit a security code sent to your phone or alternate email address.
  
• 
  In Internet Explorer, or your default web browser, click/tap on the Add or change aliases link under Account aliases.
  
• 
  Click/tap on Rename under your (primary alias).
  
• 
  Click/tap on Yes, rename my primary alias.
  
• 
  Sign in to your Microsoft account with your new email address and password. You can close the web browser when finished.
  
• 
  To Create a New Email Address to Use as your Primary Alias
  

• • 
    Select (dot) Create a new email address as your primary alias.
    
  • 
    Select if you want a new hotmail.com, live.com, or outlook.com address.
    
  • 
    Type in a name you want, click/tap on Rename primary alias
    

9. Click/tap on OK.

Change of email address

I have received the reply to my question, but not an answer. It was only a couple of questions.



The problem is my wife and I both have Facebook pages. Her Fakebook’s email address is our old email address. I want to change it to our new email address. However, I have used the new email address for my Facebook and it seems as though Facebook
can’t have the same email address for two different Facebooks. That seems to be the reason why I can’t change the email address of her Facebook.



Is that a correct assumption? Please help me over this obstacle.

• How exactly are you accessing your email account? Is it through a web browser, Microsoft Office or any other mail client?
• How did you change your email address?
• Have you set the new email address as a primary alias?
• Have you removed the old email address if you no longer want to use it?
