The 7 digit number is used to confirm your ID with you Microsoft account.

The steps are:

• Go to the start menu
• Go to Accounts

You should see the "Verify" link just above your picture.

Once you have the certificates, you can refer to the steps below:

- Obtain a free email certificate from any certificate authority

- Download the certificate and install in your PC local certificate store

- Confirm installation of the certificate in your machine’s local certificate store

- Export the certificate from your certificate store into a FPX file

- Import the certificate in Outlook

- Activate encryption for mails in Outlook

- Send Email from Outlook and choose Encrypt or Put a Digital Signature

How can I connect my digital entitlement to my microsoft id?

If that PC was upgraded via the free upgrade offer, it now has a Digital Entitlement on the Activation server. It doesn't have to be linked to your Microsoft ID to be reused. All you have to do is reinstall the same version you got with the free upgrade and it will automatically activate with the Digital Entitlement. Even if you log in with a local account.
