Windows 10: Digital Output option not showing up when I click speaker icon in taskbar?

I am screen mirroring to an Epson Projector and there is no sound. When I click the speaker icon in the taskbar under output devices nothing shows up. I have already tried uninstalling driver and this did not work. Can anyone please help?

Hi again and sorry that the previous troubleshooting didn't work as intended.

I found some alternatives that aren't harmful to your system to execute and could be of good use. As referred from

Step 1. Click on the "Windows" key and type "Powershell".

Step 2. Right-click on the Powershell option in the output list and click on "Run as administrator" option from the drop-down menu to launch it with admin privileges.

Step 3. Now copy-paste the following command in the blue Powershell dialogue box:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

The process will take some time to execute the output successfully.

Step 4. After the command line has been executed, trace the following location: C:/Users/name/AppData/Local/ Replace the "name" with your user account name and make sure that your hidden files showing feature is enabled.

Step 5. Now scroll down the list of options and find out the file named "TileDataLayer" and simply delete the folder.

Now, move back to the system home screen and check if the icons have re-appeared or not on the taskbar.

No Audio Output Device is Installed

Hi,

You will need to select Windows 8 from the drop down list while installing the driver in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to try setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

2. Select "playback devices".

3. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

5. Save the changes.

Monitor(With speakers)/Speaker showing up as "Not Plugged In"

DVI, does not provide any sound, its digital video only. HDMI will provide sound, if the monitor has a HDMI input and speakers. Right click the speaker icon down in the notifications area by the clock. Select playback devices and look for your video card. Mine lists NVidia High Definition Audio as an option. It's listed multiple times I guess because the card has multiple outputs. You want to switch it from speakers to your video cards HDMI output. If your feeding your signal through an HDMI to DVI adapter you won't get any sound. As far as I know anyway.
