Windows 10: Direct Play not enabling

so basically when i went to try older games on my win 10, i faced a issue regarding direct x saying 8.1 needs to be there and i had the latest one. i went out to seek help and found out tht i had to enable direct play feature. when i tried to enable direct play i faced the real issue where i wasnt able to enable it it said that i need to try again and restart please help!!

Cannot enable Direct Play

Most of the Games requires Direct Play. I installed Direct X version 11 .

When I try to enable Direct Play in 'Turn Windows Features on or off' , it asking me to restart my pc to get required changes.

After restarting I still found Direct Play as disabled and cannot enable it even by repeating this.

If you don't want to read the same suggestions again, you need to include everything you have already tried in your post.

- This has been a problem for a lot of people recently, and the only fix I've seen that actually worked relates to software conflicts,

and closing or uninstalling the program that may be conflicting with the process.

Anti-Virus and Skype have been specified, but there would be other potential culprits.

Aside from that, it looks like MS's new 'feature' in update 1709, which is the pop up Window that offers to 'install' Direct Play

(it really only activates Direct Play as Direct Play is included in Win10 already) may be conflicting with the ability to enable

Direct Play via Programs and Features ?

Having said that, I have disabled and re-enable Direct Play at will since 1709 several times (to test this issue),

but may have been successful because I already had Direct Play enable prior to installing the 1709 update

(Enabled DP when first 'upgraded' to Win10 late 2015) ?

- With a bit of luck installing the next version/feature update (release date approx April 10)

it is that is causing this issue for so many ?

- If you play older disk based games on Win10 you need to also be aware of another 'feature' MS built into Win10... DRM Blocking.

Basically this means you need to use a noCD fix/hack with many old games. I have more details in my post at --this

Error when enabling Direct Play in Windows 10

I get error code 0x80071A90 when I try to enable the legacy Direct play.

Brand new computer HP Pavillion store loaded Windows 10. Trying to play Age Of Conquerors could not load from discs, had to buy HD version off steam now that wont play on Voobly my gaming site without direct play.

Help?
