    Direct X error 6418 still happening and the fixes here don't work. Please help


    The error is: <verify>G: live/eq2/framework/core/devices/DirectX9RenderDevice.cpp6418 DirectX Error. errorswap the / the other way. The Game is Everquest 2. Running on Windows 11 KAMRUI AK2PLUSThe Launcher and Settings are fine. It lets me in the game but then crashes with the above fatal error every time. The video driver is updated Intel on board. The Direct X version is 12. The game is looking for version 9 and not finding it.

    in trying to play an online game everquest 2, keep getting the below error:

    everquest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown.

    <verify>
    G:\life\eq2\framework\core\devices\directx9renderdevice.cpp (6418):
    direct X (error)

    have tried going through their help department, and have done all the requested updates, but still get the same error related to the direct X issue.

    - An Everquest forum user suggests re-setting the game resolution using the games Launcher Options can fix this

    directx9renderdevice.cpp (6418) error, and it worked for the OP.

    If the game made a shortcut on your desktop, verify it's file path is linked to the launcher (some games have a 'standard' .exe and launcher.exe).

    If not, you should be able to find the Launcher in the games install folder.

    - Failing the above, also verify Direct Play is enabled in...

    Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features On or Off.

    Scroll down to and enable Legacy Components and Direct Play

    • Press Windows + R keys together.

    • Type dxdiag in the run prompt and hit enter.

    • Now check for the version of Direct x.
