Windows 10: Directional antenna for distant Wi-fi?

Ive heard that there are antennas available that are directional and canbe used with a laptop to access Wi-fi that is further away, or to geta stronger connection with signals that are normally distanced. Well, theres a neighborhood park about 3 blocks from my house thathas free Wi-fi, and I was thinking that I could use such an antennato access this Wi-fi spot from home so I would no longer have to takemy laptop to the park to get Wi-fi. One problem though: How would Iconnect the antenna to my laptop? I dont see external antennaconnections. So how does someone connect an external antenna totheir laptop? My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5558.

1) Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #3

2) Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #4

 

how to use wireless adapter with antenna

Hi! Yes, I'm able to plug it into the USB port. But the problem is, that the wi-fi internet at their house (they get wi-fi through a router), still doesn't show up in my list of available connections - whenever I'm over at our daughter's house. And it doesn't increase the number of connections in the list here at our house, either. All I see listed here is our own wi-fi (through router) network, and below it on the next line: "Direct-34-Hp Office.let.pro 6970." So there must be a problem - I don't know what it is.

Hi! I took a picture, but my camera needs to be recharged, it turns out. The antenna screws into the usb adapter. I have been able to connect it to my laptop computer, but it still doesn't increase the list of wi-fi connections - either here at our house nor at our daughter's house. At both places, wi-fi connection to the internet is provided by routers. We both have Netgear routers. I'm including with this message -

Wi-Fi Direct

WI-FI Direct is a virtual network adapter, you can't find it in the Windows Settings panel but in Device Manager. Wi-FI Direct is automatically activated when you use an App that requires WI-FI Direct, you don't have to do anything.
What is your purpose? What are you going to do?
