Windows 10: DirectX 12 using Microsoft Basic Display Adapter even though 3D card is present

Hi,I have an issue with Directx 12: All 3D-applications run terribly slow. Checking dxdiag, I can see that DirectX 12 is using the IntelR UHD Graphics as Display Device, The card shows correctly in the Device Manager and I installed the most recent drivers from Nvidia website, but nothing changed. DirectX 12 is still using the Basic Display Adapter.However I try to uninstall driver IntelR UHD Graphics and install Intel-UHD-Iris-Xe-Graphics-Driver-and-Intel-Graphics_RFKRV_WIN64_31.0.101.4091_A09.EXE it still have this issue.How can I change this?Any help is appreciated!

Checking dxdiag, I can see that DirectX 12 is using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter as Display Device, even though I have a Nvidia RTX A5000 Laptop GPU installed. The card shows correctly in the Device Manager and I installed the most recent drivers from Nvidia website, but nothing changed. DirectX 12 is still using the Basic Display Adapter.

How can I change this?

Any help is appreciated!

Hi Nicole, thank you for your suggestion. I did all you asked and changed the settings in the Nvidia control panel. Now, OpenGL-Applications run fine, but Directx is still slow. Checking dxdiag, Directx is still using the Basic Display Adapter, even after a reboot.

Now open device manager then expand display adapters by double-clicking on it.

Next, right-click Microsoft basic adapter then click uninstall device. Restart the laptop after that.

After the restart, check if the entry under Display adapter is still Microsoft basic adapter. If yes, download and install this driver from Dell.

The fact that you are seeing Microsoft basic display adapter means you are missing one display driver. Your laptop uses two display adapters.
