Windows 10: DirectX issues

I am having issues with DirectX since my PC arrived. When running games from steam that require DirectX 9-11 such as Shogun:Total War(2) on DirectX 11 it comes up with the "First time opening" message but then fails to launch after the "Downloading DirectX components". When trying to run Garry's mod on DirectX 9 it says that I am missing component Dx9_40 (or something similar, I am currently not at my PC).

I have tried to re-run the DirectX installer but it displays a message at the end saying "Failed to install, refer to DirectX.log and dxerror.log". I have also checked all drivers and made sure they are up to date and verified my game files in steam.

I have looked online and people recommend changing the registry to trick windows into reinstalling DirectX, uninstalling DirectX and reinstalling it manually or a complete windows reinstall which I don't particularly want do have to do.

Can you see a particular method I haven't tried yet or suggest a course of action that could resolve this?

Step 1:

I suggest you to check the DirectX Version installed on your system.

Follow the below steps to check the DirectX Version:

• Press Windows key + R from the Desktop.
• Type dxdiag and hit Enter.
• Check the DirectX Version.

Step 2:

I suggest you to update the Graphic driver from the Device Manager and check if it works.

Follow the below steps:

• Press Windows + R on the Keyboard.
• Type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
• Select Graphic driver from the list.
• Right click on the Graphic driver and click on Update driver Software.

If the issue persists then install the latest graphic driver from the manufacturer and check if it helps.

DirectX directshow crash

Install the latest available Windows updates.
