Windows 10: Disable automatic running of Dropbox updater at system start-up

I notice that DropboxUpdate C:\Program Files x86\Dropbox\Update\DropboxUpdate.exe runs every time I start my computer Windows 8.1 x64, but I cannot see why. In the Task Manager in the Startup tab the Dropbox entry C:\Program Files x86\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe is disabled. In the Task Scheduler there are two relevant tasks that I can see: DropboxUpdateTaskMachineCore C:\Program Files x86\Dropbox\Update\DropboxUpdate.exe /c and DropboxUpdateTaskMachineUA C:\Program Files x86\Dropbox\Update\DropboxUpdate.exe /ua /installsource scheduler. I have set both of them to run only

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

You can try to disable automatic updates starting from the point that automatic updates behave like any service. Follow these steps:

* Press the Windows + R key, type services.msc in the execution bar and press the Enter key.

* In the list of processes locate the Windows Update and open it by clicking on it.

* To disable it, in the General tab, look for the field "Type of start" and change it to "Disabled".

* Restart the PC and the automatic updates will have gone down in history.

If at any time you want to activate them again, simply follow these steps again and change the startup type to "Automatic".
