Windows 10: Disable file explorer navigation pane for all new file explorer windows?

I want to fix file explorer so that when I open a new file explorer window, the navigation pane does not show. I tried unchecking that option under View, and then applying that view to all folders, but new file explorer windows still show the pane. I tried modifying the PageSpaceControlSizer entries in the registry, but that didn't work either. I have Windows 10 Pro, version 21H2, update June 13, 2023—KB5027215 OS Builds 19044.3086 and 19045.3086

Not able to open sub-folders from navigation pane in File explorer.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

• Under which drive are you not able to view the sub folders?
• Are you not able to expand the options from navigation pane of the File explorer?

This seems to be a temporary issue. Sometimes disabling and enabling some of the options will fix the issue.



Follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Open File explorer by pressing Windows key + E keys on the keyboard.
• Click on View tab located at the top of the window.
• Click on Navigation pane and uncheck Navigation pane option.
• Close the window, follow the above steps from a to
  c, only this time check the option Navigation pane and check if the changes are effective.

How to Disable Preview Pane in File Explorer

I would suggest you to try the steps and check if it helps.

• Open File Explorer.
• Click on View Tab.
• Click on Preview Pane to view\hide it.
