Windows 10: Disable Monitor detection via USB

Operating System: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 64-bit 10.0, Build 17763I have a Siemens touch screen connected to my PC. Display port for the image, USB-B for the touch function. But now Windows always recognizes two screens, which leads to problems. Deactivating the second monitor in windows settings is not enough, it simply cannot recognize a screen via USB.What's impressive, however, is that I even get a picture. Although still image and with a message to purchase an IDisplay license, but over a 20 meter long USB 2.0 cable....

Disabling monitor auto detection in windows 10

The problem is as simple as this. We are speaking about headless systems, systems which are meant to run unattended.

How can we disable the OS monitor detection? Like this, the OS assumes the monitor is still connected anyhow, this is the goal.

The response to you questions can be found as follows:

• Are you having issues with a secondary monitor as well? -> there are no issues with a certain monitor. The problem is how can we disable the OS built-in monitor detection if in the registry this particular TMM section can not be found?
• What have you looked into aside from checking the Registry settings for TMM? -> OS tweaks for headless systems (systems with no monitor attached, running unattended and managed ONLY remotely).
• How long does it usually take before the monitor goes off? -> not the case!
• Do you see if there is still activity on your CPU once the screen goes off? -> Of course, if you enter through remote management you will see the system is running.

 

Disable "Power Surge on USB" message

If the system detects that a USB port is going over the power limit, the system is set to notify the user by default. However, since you mentioned that you're still getting the notification after you disabled the alerts, we suggest following these steps
instead:

• Right-click the Start button.
• Choose Device Manager.
• Click the drop-down arrow beside Universal Serial Bus controllers.
• Right-click anything that has USB Host Controller in its name, and select
  Properties.
• Go to the Driver tab and select Uninstall.
• Restart your computer. The driver will be reinstalled automatically.

Let us know if the error notification disappears after following these steps.

 

Windows can't detect second monitor connected through USB

I'm trying to run a second monitor (HP1740) on my HP Compaq dc7900 running Windows 10. There is only one VGA port, so I've connected with a USB-A to USB-B cable. Windows does not detect the second monitor. Any suggestions?
