Delete files but not ask for confirmation

    Hi Steve,

This is intended behavior. As some background, your internal HDDs and some external HDDs have their own $Recycle.bin folder. This is a hidden folder located on the drive. When you delete a file, it is sent to the recycle bin, not permanently deleted. You
can disable the prompt for these.

Memory sticks usually do not have their own $Recycle.bin folder because the hardware does not support it. Thus, when you ask to delete a file there, it is
permanently deleted. And because you are undertaking this operation that you cannot reverse, Windows must ask you to confirm.

As far as I know, there is not a way to disable the prompts for permanent deletion, only recycling.

Delete files but not ask for confirmation

    1. On your desktop, right-click the Recycle Bin and click Properties.

    2. Select the drive that you want to change, and check/uncheck the box to
    Display delete confirmation
    .

This setting is a per-drive setting, so if you want to enable or disable it for one drive, it will not affect other drives. Also note that removable drives do not have a Recycle Bin and therefore files deleted there will be permanently deleted.

    Hello isolt, *Smile

Only drives (ex: internal) that have a Recycle Bin that you can set these settings for.

Removable media doesn't have a Recycle Bin for them, and will always permanently delete and ask for confirmation first. I'm not aware of any way around this yet.

I believe the op is referring to this option in the Delete choices an explorer window when you highlight an item to delete and subsequent 'are you sure you want to permanently delete' dialogue popup.
