Windows 10: Disable recent files from specific apps in start menu or search results

How do I disable this recent list?:... but apparently it makes no difference to the list of recent files found when you enter an app name in the search bar, e.g. type "irfanview", etc.

Welcome to tenforums. I guess you know you can choose not to show recently used items..

...most used... =off Enable or Disable Recently Added apps on Start Menu in Windows 10 I don't know how you would stop particular ones being shown though. Try Open Shell (free) - excellent start menu with fulll drag 'n drop support, configurable search, customisable appearance and behaviour

 

Disable Web Search Results in Windows 10 Start Menu

Disabling web results in the search box depends on the version and build of your Windows 10. We suggest checking the Windows 10 version and build installed on your computer. To check the version and build, follow the steps below:

• On Cortana search, type winver and press
  Enter.
• A pop-up box will appear containing the version and build of your operating system.

Meanwhile, you can try these steps on how to disable web results in the search box:

• Click the search box in the taskbar.

• Click Settings from the list.
• In the Settings page, turn off the Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts and more option.
• Also, turn off the Search online and include web results option.

that's all off already dude lol, I'm really surprised there is no fix for the recent files list/MRU in the file menu of programs haha

I appreciate the help, MS really needs to implement a Group Policy or a string that can do that for all programs installed
