  1. Disable secure boot when field is greyed out in bios

I want to disable secure boot so I can try to boot the laptop from a usb instead.I found this, which was not helpful due to the field being greyed out in the bios and not adjustable.-----------------------------In order to disable the secure boot option please follow the options as given below.Open the PC BIOS menu. You can often access this menu by pressing a key during the boot up sequence, such as F1, F2, F12, or Esc.Or, from Windows, hold the Shift key while selecting Restart. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options: UEFI Firmware Settings.Find the Secure Boot setting,

  2. Secure Boot Option Greyed out in Surface 3 BIOS

I am trying to Dual Boot/Install Parrot OS on my Surface and i need to disable secure boot.

This is the issue in step form:

1: I access the bios password screen and Press "ENTER" (Without entering a Password) and access the BIOS interface. (Note. NOT the UEFI)

2: I go to select Secure Boot, but i can only access Device Information as all other options are unavailable.

I do not know how to enable the BIOS Options and have searched endlessly to no avail.

    Hope you can help.

Disable secure boot when field is greyed out in bios

UEFI Secure Boot - Greyed out - Disabled

    Hi Alistair,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

When booting from a USB, Secure Boot should be disabled, not enabled.

Is there a CSM setting in your BIOS, if there is, disable that permanently, ensure secure boot is disabled, then set the USB as the primary boot device, save those settings and you should be able to boot form the USB.
