Disable shortcut keys in Edge/Chrome and route them to remote machine.

Due to COVID-19 outbreak, I need to remotely access my PC in office from home. It is done via a browser as instructed by my company. I use either Chrome or Edge.

As I need to work with split windows in VIM on my RedHat machine, I pressed Ctrl+W and then my browser tab closed immediately. After a bit googling I found that it was the shortcut for closing the current tab in Edge. I tried again with Chrome, pressed Ctrl+W again and it gave me the same result.

Does anyone know how can I disable shortcut keys in either Edge or Chrome?

    • When do you receive the error message?
    • Do you have multiple routers connected?

We would suggest you to try disabling IPv6 and see if that helps. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + R, to open
      Run
      dialog box.
    2. Type ncpa.cpl and click on
      OK
      .
    3. Right click on the connection that you are using and select
      Properties.
    4. Now, clear the checkbox for Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
    5. Click on OK.

If the issue persists, you may want to temporarily disable the Routing and Remote Access service. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + R, to open
      Run
      dialog box.
    2. Type services.msc and click on
      OK
      .
    3. Look for Routing and Remote Access
service and double click on it.
    4. Now, click on the drop down for Startup type and select
      Disabled.
    5. Click on OK.
