  1. Disable snapping to the middle third of the screen

Aero Snap is quite possibly the most infuriating feature you have added to Windows in the past few years, which given the amopunt of rubbish it is competing with is quite the achievement. Around 80% of the time I try to draga window to the top of the screen to maximise it, I instead get a window that takes up the middle third of my screen. Why is this a feature in the first place? I have never once wanted to have a window take up such a ridiculously unuseful section of my screen, so I simply cannot understand what would possibly lead you to believe that this is a feature that people actually

    Snap Assist

    Hi Cory,

The Snap Assist allows you to juggle apps, arrange open windows, resize windows by simply dragging and dropping them to the edges of the screen. If you don't want to get a quarter screen snap, you can change the settings of Snap Assist by follow the steps below:

    • Open the Settings app
    • Click System.
    • Click Multitasking.
    • You can turn off some of the option of Snap Assist on this window.

If you want to disable Snap Assist, you can turn off Arrange windows automatically by dragging them to the sides or corners of the screen.

Should you have further queries, feel free to post it.

Disable snapping to the middle third of the screen

    How to disable split screen?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Please reply with the following details to assist you further:

    • Where and when do you see the split screen?
    • Which build version of Windows are you using? To check type:
winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
      Enter.

Assuming that you are using the Snap feature in Windows 10, where the Windows gets arranged side-by-side when dragged to the edge of the screen, you can easily disable the option in Windows Settings.

Please refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + I, to open
      Settings
      .
    2. Click on System.
    3. Click on Multitasking.
    4. On the right pane, under Snap, toggle the switch to disable Snap feature. The option may vary between Windows 10 1809 and 1903. However, if you disable the option the windows will not snap.
