Windows 10: Disable the password complexity

How do i disable the password complexity when i login to my PC?


I am able to create a one letter password previously which i find it convenient.

I dont need a lengthy password.

However, after a recent update i need to add complexity of my password.


I tried to run gpedit.msc but and an error (Windows cannot find 'gpedit.msc'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.) was shown. I also tried to run gpmc.msc and a similar error pops up.

Could you take the images of your password policy? Is your computer joined to a domain or not?

Make sure the policy "Password must meet complexity requirements" is disabled.

 

Password Complexity

Windows Phone has supported complex passwords (and this includes alphanumeric) since 7.5, but the option only kicks in when a corporate Exchange account that requires complex passwords is added to the phone.

 

Change password results in an error (not meeting complexity requirements even though that option is disabled)

I found a solution to this. First I enabled the local Administrator account then I attempted to change the password of a newly created account that didn't have a password for and it wouldn't accept any password I tried to use regardless of the complexity
level. I went in to the local security policy, which I had previous set the "Password must meet complexity length" to disabled using another local admin account, but under the Administrator account is was enabled. I disabled it again and from there I was
able to change the newly created account password from Computer Management.

I tried just about everything I could find on the web to resolve the complexity errors to no avail until I used the local Administrator account and then it worked.
