Windows 10: Disable touchpad

I have a Sony VAIO model SVF15N190X. I just did a fresh install of Windows 10 64 bit. I installed the files and drivers from the Sony website for my model. Now I can't turn off the touchpad. Before doing the fresh install pressing the Fn plus F1 keys would toggle the touchpad on and off. I also went to the Synaptic website and got their touchpad drivers but they didn't work either. I found many online references to the problem that say to go into Settings/Mouse and make various changes to the settings. Problem is that the dialog boxes I see aren't showing the options they refer to. Does anyone have a solution?

Disable touchpad

Normally, you can disable the touchpad from Device Manager by follow the steps below:

• Go to Device Manager.
• Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
• Right-click on HID-compliant mouse and select Disable.
• Click Yes.
• Check if the touchpad is already disabled.

You can also contact the device manufacturer for further assistance if touchpad cannot be disabled.
