How to disable Windows 10 updates [100% working solution]

New thread is needed because all the others have been closed...

You know, even if you stop and disable Windows Update service, first or later "something" will turn it back on....

I believe the "simple" and working solution is: automatically set Windows Update service status "disabled" every time a changing attempts occurs

    Ingredients:

    1. arrest and disable Windows Update service from the services pane
    2. using task scheduler create a task that
2a. triggers every time Windows Update service status changes

2b. disables it (and stop if needed)

    END

    hints for step 2.

2a. Fill the new task TRIGGER tab with the information of the event (have grabbed for you from Event Viewer)

    Event ID: 7040

    Registry Name: System

    Source: Service Control Manager

2b. Fill the new task ACTION tab with a "program" to start, can be a .bat script file with the following lines

    @Echo off

    net stop wuauserv

    sc config wuauserv start= disabled

Under General tab do not forget to tick "run with highest privileges"

You can test the scheduled task is working/triggering correctly by manually change, in the services pane, the Windows Update service status from disable into another, I mean without have to wait Windows changes it randomly

Of course when an update of the system is REALLY desired, the task must be deactivated temporarily

    Precisely in order:

    1. Deactivate the scheduled task
    2. Change Windows Update service status from disable into another and start it
    3. RUN WINDOWS UPDATE AND UPDATE THE SYSTEM
    4. Stop Windows Update service and change status into disabled
    5. Activate the scheduled task
    (sorry for my english)

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
