    How do I disable updates in Windows 10? I am heartily sick of a malevolent outside force that takes control of my computer whenever it chooses and bars me from using it for hours at a time while it fiddles about installing so-called improvements to my on-line life. Bunkum. In Windows 7 I could opt to only accept updates when I had reviewed them and decided for myself whether they might be relevant to me, but it seems that the dark forces at Microsoft now don't trust me to make my own decisions. Perhaps they resent my refusal to allow them to control any aspect of my life.
    It might be easier to accept their intrusion if the dammed software worked in the first place; twice since I got this machine four weeks ago the operating system has failed and ordinary, simple everyday functions have stopped working. I'm not planning to do yet another factory reset, I'll learn to live with its current inadequacies and wish I could have afforded to buy a MAC.

    Disable Windows Updates

    I mean that seems kind of silly. Just seems to me that I will have to switch all my systems to Linux.

    Thank you so much, I've stopped it through Task Manager and hope the setting survives the next reboot. For security I haven't touched the Firewall and Defender update services.
