Disable warning when changing the file extension

I have windows 10 professional. I need to change file extensions a lot. But every time I do I get a warning that this file might get unusable and I need to confirm that I know what I'm doing. This makes Windows absolutely terrible for actual work.Is there finally a way to disable this warning on Windows 10 Professional? Any registry entries or something I can change to get rid of this time wasting pop-up? As far as I can tell the only answer from Microsoft was written 2010 and simply says it's not possible for "safety" reasons, but we are talking about Windows Pro, not Home. This should be pos

  2. File extension *.docx

    Hi Randy,

To change the file extension when saving a document in Word 2013, you may follow the steps below:

    • Click on File; then, select Options from the list.
    • In the Word Options window, choose Save.
    • Under Save files in this format, select *.doc from the list.
    • Hit OK button to confirm and save the changes.

If ever your Word 2013 application is not recognizing the changes you have made, you may restart the application; however, if the issue still persists, we suggest that you repair it. To do this, see this
    link.

We would appreciate it if you could get back to us and provide us your feedback.

c: Then click the View tab.

d: Uncheck the option Hide extensions for known file types
    and click apply > ok.

  4. Disable warning when changing the file extension

Follow up on "disable file extension warning" from 10 years ago

    I notice
    this annoyance
still happens and there doesn't seem to be an obvious option anywhere to disable it. Am I just missing it or does Microsoft just not care? My bet is on the latter, but I may as well ask.

    Sincerely,

    A frustrated IT student
