  1. Disable Windows Update download?

Is there a way to totally disable Windows Update like the last versions?

I maxed my data because I think Windows Update doesn't recognize my phone's mobile hotspot as a "metered connection". Either that or it simply doesn't work for all metered connections.

I checked the Advanced Options but all I found was...

"You'll be asked to schedule a restart to finish installing updates. Updates won't download over a metered connection (where charges may apply)."

But this doesn't indicate that it won't "predownload" the updates.

Is there a way to toally turn this off. Cuz pretty much, this autodownload cost me like $40 and I didn't even notice it was happening while I was using my computer with my phone hotspot!

    :)

  2. Windows update_1900101 Windows 10

I haven't been able to install Windows 10 due to the following error: C1900101-20017. Any idea what this is and does it mean I'm out of luck?

  3. Disable Windows update

If you have Windows 10 Pro, you have the option to Download updates as per your convenience. See the article I linked above.

However, for home, you can set your connection as metered or disable Windows updates completely as per Dave's advice.

You could disable the Windows Update service. Of course I don't know what other functionality might be effected.

Windows re-enables it anyway at start-up.

'Suppose one could set a scheduled task to disable it... I think it's better to control stuff via firewall.
