Disabled Event Viewer Log Keeps Logging Events Anyway??

I don't know what to do. I enabled 'Winsock Network Events' in Event Viewer to see what kind of events are logged and even when I explicitly disable the log, it keeps filling with events whenever I clear itI've tried to clear the log before Disabling, tried clearing it after Disabling, tried leaving it as is, I've tried restarting Event Viewer, restarted the PC, but it doesn't seem to matterwhy is this happening. it happened on startup and for a few minutes while Disabled, but it hasn't done anything else unless I try to clear the log

    :)

I keep geting the following in the Event viewer ,
The description for Event ID (4) in source ( SuperProServer ) cannot be found . the local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display message from a remote computer . You may be able to use /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description . The following information is part of the event, The event log file is corrupt .

    NTFS Compression on Event Logs

Anyone ever try doing NTFS compression on their Error Logs?
It's all text, so it should compress pretty well.

Anyone else try this? I suppose it's only useful in server-land when you have huge event logs..

    To compress:
    Run services.msc
Find Event Log and set to "Disabled"
    Reboot
    Go to c:\windows\system32\config
NTFS Compress anything that ends in .evt
    Run services.msc
Find Event Log and set to "Automatic"
    Reboot

Clear All Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows

FWIW CCleaner will clear the Event Viewer Logs - just check the box under Windows>Advanced>Windows Events Logs. run CCleaner and it's that simple. Much faster than most ,bat files I've tried. Just a suggestion.
