Windows 10: Disabling Firewall in the Notification Center

I have been searching through threads on how to do this, but the only solution that is mentioned is turning off the notification center as a whole via registry or GPO.

Personally I would prefer GPO, but there doesn't seem a way to do it for something this specific.

thoughts anyone?

Windows 10 Creator's Update and Windows Firewall

I just installed the creator's update for Windows 10 at my workplace and see a notification in windows defender security center that my windows firewall is turned off. Our work has the windows firewall disabled through GPO. What changes do I need to make
to the GPO so that the windows firewall stays off and stops the notification from prompting that the windows firewall has been disabled.

Why do I have a notification in Action Center to turn on Antivirus & Firewall in Windows 10?

I have McAfee Antivirus & Firewall enabled at all times but I still get notifications in Action Center in Windows 10 to turn on an antivirus and firewall.

 

Windows Firewall doesn't give notifications for outbound connections, only inbound. Two ways to stop inbound notifications are either:

1) Set it to block ALL inbound connections for Domain, Private & Public profiles as required. This will block all inbound connections regardless of any firewall allow rules and won't give notifications (only logged events in Event Viewer).

2) Turn off 'Display notifications to the user when a program is blocked from receiving inbound connections' for Domain, Private & Public profiles as required.

Locations are as follows:

Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Advanced Settings (On left) > Windows Firewall Properties

Or Group Policy location would be Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Windows Firewall With Advanced Security >

 

Thanks for the great snapshot, I applied the setting in GPO and i'm still getting notification in the Action Center.





I have only tested this in Windows 10 1511.

I do not want to try the first option, blocking inbound connections is not what we want to do in this scenario.

If you have any other thoughts, please let me know.

I don't know what GPO is. Are you trying to save ink or are you too lazy? Is it the government post office?

 

You can turn off messages for network firewall.
