Disabling HID-compliant mouse causes device manager to freeze

My cursor has disappeared, neither trackpad nor my mouse do anything. I turned on "use Ctrl to show where cursor is" and found where it should be, but there is no cursor there and the location never updates. I've tried every suggestion found online: f7, uninstall and reinstall mouse driver, check for updates etc. When I try to uninstall my mouse drivers, the uninstall never finishes, so I canceled it with task manager. When I try to disable the mouse via device manager, the manager freezes. It has been "not responding" for at least 10 minutes.

  2. HID Compliant mouse problems

Since the Creators update when I restart my PC the mouse moves to the top of the screen. It just moves on its own power. I have to unplug both my G35 headset and my X52 HOTAS from there I have to go to Device Manager and remove the 2 HID compliant mouses. Then I can plug them both back in and everything works ok. I also have a Logitech Wireless mouse that shows in the Device Manager and I leave that one running. I hope this gets fixed soon. It's a pain in the *** to have to go through this after every restart. I downloaded the latest Logitech drivers but they were no help. I really don't understand why I get 2 separate HID compliant mouses as well as the Logitech mouse in the Device Manager. Any suggestions?

  3. HID-compliant mouse. Device Status:This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Have you tried updating the driver for the HID-compliant mouse?

Follow these steps on how to update the driver:

To do this, follow these steps:

    • In Device Manager, click the Driver tab in the device's Properties dialog box.
    • Click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard.
    • Follow the instructions to update the driver.
If that does not work, we suggest you contact the manufacturer of your laptop directly and ask for updated drivers for Windows 10.

    Regards.

  4. Disabling HID-compliant mouse causes device manager to freeze

What are the consequences of disabling HID-compliant devices?

I'm attempting to improve the frame-rate for a PC game called Condemned. My machine exceeds the recommended requirements described back in 2006. The machine is, however, running Windows 10.

Many forums are recommending that I disable "HID-Compliant Devices":

I can't find any reasoning behind this method.

Inspecting the Properties of these devices via Device Manager doesn't tell me much about them. There are three types of HID-compliant devices on my machine:

    1. consumer control device (4 instances)
    2. system controller (2 instances)
    3. vendor-defined device (6 instances)

I have no idea what functionality is provided through these. I'm worried that I'll disable my keyboard or mouse if I disable these entries.

Update: Condemned will randomly have dramatically sharp drops in fps. Dropping from ~180 to 8. Unplugging the keyboard and mouse seems to restore the normal frame-rate.

Also, all but one of the HID-Compliant devices vanish once I disconnect them from my KVM:

Switching from my computer to another via the KVM's switches makes for a quick remedy.
