Windows 10: Disabling Pen Ripple in Win 10

Hi

This post is more a case of making information available to those who use tablets of whatever make or model hopefully to save a mass of searching for a solution to this problem.

I've been trying out Windows 10 Preview in a dual boot system and got the dreaded pen ripple which should I suppose be called pen cripple. Nevertheless, there is a nice easy way of turning it off. This is done by going into Settings, selecting Devices and then selecting Pen on the left. When this opens you will find two options: Show Visual Effects and Show Cursor both of which will probably be turned on. Switch them off and you're done. I found this solution on the following web site but felt this info should be more widely shared:

Give it a try - it should work. I have found though that the large ring appears when you right click although that is all it does, i.e. although it appears it does not hinder your work. Please bare in mind that at the time of writing I am still working with a Preview build although I don't expect this to change when Windows 10 is officially released, and I'm on the Home version of Win10. The great thing with this is that there is no messing around with the registry.

cannot tuirn this horrible, death-defyingly annoying 'feature;, please help!

plug in a Wacom tablet and see what happens when you just want to type something.

windows ten forces a popup handwriting field that is not wanted.

it would be immensely helpful to at least know what that is, where the setting for it is, how to turn it off.

AND the ripples.

good grief, the ripples.

tablet and pen functionality is an artist's tool.

right now, Microsoft is assuming it is only for handwriting. it isn't.

and nobody wants that ripple function. it is annoying and delays everything you do.

 

Wacom Intuos 5 + Pen and touch settings

Win 10 desktop with NO touch screen (dual monitors)

The Pen and Touch settings is unavailable message when I try to get to the pen and touch settings to disable the press and hold right click pen options.

This is driving me mad that I try to use the Intuos 5 pen and all I get is the 'right click option' when I touch the pen to the tablet.

No matter how many times I install and uninstall it.

I also have the same problem on a Win 8.1 computer with the Intuos 5 AND the Bamboo Tablets.

HELP please?
