Disabling Touchpad Following a Recent Windows 10, Edge update

For years I have had my laptop computer set so that the touchpad is disabled if I have a mouse connected. As I recall, setting up that configuration a few years back was a simple thing to do. Recently Windows 10 and/or Edge has been auto-updated on my laptop. I have noticed that NOW the touchpad is no longer disabled when I am using a mouse. This causes me to make typing errors and I want the touchpad disabled. I have read the instructions on line -- for example https://www.windowscentral.com/how-disable-touchpad-while-mouse-connected-windows-10 . The fact is that the screens on my computer simply do not look like what is shown in the guidance document. So, I am struggling with how to or whether I can restore my mouse/touchpad to working the way it did before the update.

    QUESTIONS:

Is this an issues others have experienced?

Did something recently change to prevent me from disabling the touchpad when I am using a mouse?

    Thanks

    :)

Step 2: Update the Touchpad drivers.
