  1. Disabling Windows Update Forced Restarts

    Greetings,

It's well known that Windows Update will force computers to restart on occasion.

As a professional DJ, this has *RUINED* numerous live performances that make use of my Windows computer.

I'd like to know how to disable these forced restarts.

It is my understanding that changing the 0 value found at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU"to a 1, should do the trick, however this file location/path does not exist on my machine. The"\...WindowsUpdate\AU"portion of the path is nowhere to be found within "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows".

I find these forced restarts, as well as the convoluted nature of the task of disabling them, to be *extremely* frustrating.

I've literally lost income and fans because of this...

    Please help.

    Thank you!

PS: Many people who depend on Windows for their livelihood and/or well being have complained to me of the damaging nature of these forced restarts. They're sincerely uncool. Windows team:PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Disabling Windows Update Forced Restarts :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

    Windows 10 update being enabled.

Sounds like task scheduler forces it to restart, course in svc.msc i make sure to deselect it from restarting after it fails.
