Windows 10: Disc Drive has completely disappeared

I have a laptop with two internal drives: a 500GB Crive and a 1TB Drive. When I turned on my PC this morning I noticed that my Drive with 500GB of stuff stored on it had disappeared, and I'm unable to access any of the data stored in it.I've been doing research and trying different things all day, with no success. I've gone through the control panel in the following steps:Control Panel / System and Security / Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Disc ManagementTo my understanding this location is supposed to show all available drivers on the PC, although the second drive is not p

I'd like to wait until you reply to my question in Scrsht 12, if it is a remnant of the process try deleting the one on the dsktp and see if the one in send to also disappears. If it stays in send to, test it, and if you're still having problems I'd suggest you could go back to: Option One: To Add or Remove Items in Send To context menu for Your Account (current user) and do Step 3 to remove it and start over using Step 4 but be very careful of your steps in creating the shortcut and be sure you d&d that shortcut to the send to part of the address.

I'm busy today and I probably won't be back until the evening.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Yes, you can put it on the CD or DVD. A recovery drive (USB) or system repair disc (CD or DVD) can be used to troubleshoot and restore your computer.

For you to be able to create it, we suggest following the steps below:

• Insert the disc in the drive.
  
• Open Cortana, type in "recdisc" and click it.
  
  
• The disc creator will open, select the disc-burner drive with a writable CD or DVD in it and click the
  Create disc button.
  
  
  
• Once the process is complete, click OK
