Windows 10: Discord freezes my computer when in a call and using certain applications

I’ve lately ran into the problem of the Discord application using way to much CPU then normal around 25% in Task Manager and also making my computer slow down my cursor to then basically freeze all my applications. What’s strange is that this is only happening when I’m on a call in Discord while also using a program which Discord detects, so mostly games, when using Discord via a browser it works fine. I’ve tried uninstalling Discord 5 times while also deleting files in %appdata% and %localappdata% as well as in Registry Editor. I’ve also tried both using the 32-bit version and the 64, but b

Computer hangs up/freezes when running certain apps

Hello

A few weeks ago my computer started completely freezing. When those freezes occur the computer is totally unresponsive and requires a reboot, however they only happen when running certain programs.

Windows Version number : 1903
When does it happen?

• Playing youtube videos (takes a few minutes to freeze on average)
• Starting certain games (freezes on startup)
• Answering discord calls

And i discover new sources all the time so i doubt this is a complete list.

What did i try so far?

• Updating the drivers (didn't try to update the BIOS yet but reset it to default)
• Sfc / chkdsk
• OCCT (both CPU and GPU test, neither overheated/froze the computer)
• memtest x86 (4 passes 6 hours, no errors)
• Swapping GPU (RX-480)

By this point i was a bit lost so i tried using windows event viewer to no avail.

As a last attempt i tried to install windows on a new harddrive but the computer froze during installation.

I'm completely lost and don't know whether my hardware is failing or if it's some kind of software issue.

 

Computer freezes after random Applications open

Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

The first thing to get the issue fixed would be to perform a System Maintenance troubleshooter and then check if the computer freezes after the applications are opened.

Please follow the steps to run System Maintenance troubleshooter on the computer:

• 
  Type “Control Panel” on the search box.
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows.
  
• 
  Click on System Maintenance option.
  
• 
  Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.
  

Please revert if the issue happens with the freezing of the computer.
