Windows 10: Discord recognizes and picks up my microphone audio, but windows itself does not.

So I am trying to game and none of my games are picking up my audio. I go into the windows sound settings and I see the blue bar for the microphone picking up my sound, but its not being played back to me. Nor can my games hear it either.But I go into discord and my discord picks up the microphone AND the audio in the test, so they can hear me on Discord.What can I do?

My Microphone is picking up my headphone audio

My microphone seems to be taking the audio output from my headphones and using it as a microphone input. When I am on discord with my friends they can hear everything that happens in my headphones through my microphone and i know it isn't just echoing
because i unplugged the headphones and the microphone still picked up the audio output I've tried everything and I'm desperate. please help.

 

Microphone not picking up after April update

After the update my microphone wont pick up sound no matter what program I'm using. The microphone itself is not broken because strangely Windows can pick it up if I choose to listen to the device and play back audio through the speakers. But then only
windows can hear it, no other application such as Skype, Discord or Steam can pick up on it. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers several times.

Also, you may go to Settings > System > Sound > under Input, select the Microphone then Troubleshoot
