Windows 10: Disk and Drive Paritioning

I must first say that I cannot guarantee a quick reply to ay answers I receive owing to disability problems but I WILL reply when I can.

I got into difficulties with my Windows10, caused by problems when trying to use my Seagate drive for my file history. I was met with a message that a partition was missing. I tried to explore the option of the Recovery Partition to restore my Windows 10. However, I was met a message telling me that my partitions were not in the correct order . I cannot say for sure that this was the order in which these things did unfold but it as I now remember. Fortunately I had Windows10 on a stick which did work successfully but, I have lost a lot of files.


As an amateur, I am really worried that my disk partitions are not in a good state. I do blame myself. In my first flush of enthusiasm, I do remember that I explored a set of programs from EaseUS which covered disk partitioning and I am really worried that I stupidly may have changed something in ignorance. Is there anyone who would be willing to help me to restore my partitions to how they should be.


If anyone could pass on to Greg Carmack - Windows MVP 2010-20 my gratitude for trying to help me with my Seagate problems. I could not initially reply to his post because both my spine and my computer were in a very poor state for quite a while. I did reply to his post but he seemed to have taken his post down. My deepest apologies. I do not like to let people down.

I would suggest you follow the steps below and see if it helps:

Method 1: I would suggest you first try the Troubleshooter.

Please follow the steps below:

• 
  Type “Troubleshooting” on the Windows Search bar and hit enter.
  
• 
  On the left side of the Troubleshooting window, click on “View all”
  
• 
  Click on Hardware and Devices. Please provide a password if asked for it and click ok.
  

Method 2:

• 
  Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
  
• 
  Expand the Sound, Video and game controllers.
  
• 
  Right-click on the Disk Drives and click on Properties.
  
• 
  Go to the Drivers Tab and Click Enable (If not enabled).
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check.

How To Format A Write Protected Flash Memory ?

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.
