Windows 10: Disk at 50% but nothing is running? Strange disk behavour, could it be a malware?

Hello!


I use Photoshop a lot, but I've had this PC for over a year and it worked fine. Though lately Photoshop has been lagging a lot and when I checked task manager I saw the disk space is running really high but it didn't say Photoshop is using any of the disk space. Not only Photoshop is lagging, sometimes windows explorer lags too when I move files or open files, and the same thing would happen to the disk space.

My PC has a SSD 47GB free of 111GB and HDD 560GB free of 1TB. I clearly have a lot of room for apps to run. This strange disk behaviour is making me thinking if my PC has malware... Are any other possible reasons that my disk is playing weird? And if it really is a malware, how can I confirm and how can I solve this issue? Thanks!!

Disk management console view is not up-to-date

i dont know how to fix your disk management, but i can fix your partition problems...




open up Command Prompt with admin rights. (Right click, run as admin)


enter in
DISKPART
list disk

then find the Disk number for your Raid array... lets call it number 7 ( you can tell what disk is what by the total size)
type in

Select Disk 7
List Partition (will give you a list of all the partitions..)
Select Partition 1 (im assuming you only have 1 partition on Disk 7) repeat this step if you have more partitions.
ASSIGN


that should get the array up and running ready to use.

side question, have you tried restarting the PC?

 

disk usage stuck at 50%

started today having a huge issue as my disk usage is stuck at 50% when running apps or games! I have tried a few methods none have worked. I have seen quite a few people with the same issue and not sure if the methods that were suggested helped them or
not, but they definately didn't help me! I have ran clean boot, launched into safe mode, done disk checks etc. Please help it's very frustrating!
