  1. Disk corruption by "copy", possibly provoked by File History; circumvention not proven

I have stumbled across a problem that can corrupt a disk. CHKDSK confirms the corruption, but often there is other disturbing evidence like folders disappearing or folders morphing into ordinary files thereby making inaccessible all files and folders underneath. The operation that fails is a copy of a folder e.g., UserX, with a tree of folders underneath it and files in most of the folders, to a different disk but both NTFS, 4TB, same manufacturer—WD. CHKDSK shows no corruption of the input disk before or after the copy. About 5,000 files are copied, and 10-15 mi

  2. File History never copies anything

    Hi,

Temporary system failure is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. To help resolve the issue, we suggest deleting the files in the USB drive. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Settings > Update & Security > Backup > More Options.
    • Click Stop using this drive.
    • Delete the File History folder on your external drive.
    • Try again to add the USB drive to backup File History.
Keep us in the loop with the result.

  3. Corrupted file RAR

If the archive has been created using WinRAR, why don't you try WinRAR itself? It has a built-in repair feature for repairing corrupted archive (ZIP as well as RAR). Follow the steps given below:
    • Open WinRAR application in your system.
    • Now click on File tab > Open or simply press Ctrl+O.
    • A small window "Find Archive" will pop up. Locate the corrupt RAR archive from your system directory and select it.
    • Now click Open button.
    • Click Tools tab > Repair archive or simply press Alt+R.
    • Again a small window "Repairing File name.rar" will pop up.
    • Now click Browse to select a location to save the repaired archive.
    • Check the box "Treat the corrupt archive as RAR" and click OK.
    • WinRAR will start repairing of corrupt RAR archive. Once it gets completed click Close.
I hope the above steps will help you repair the corrupted RAR archive.

    Thanks.

Disk corruption by "copy", possibly provoked by File History; circumvention not proven

    Java.nio.file - Copying files

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one
