    Disk keeps disappearing with BSOD and Windows refuses to boot


    I have bought a Laptop called LG gram two years ago, and I have been using it with no problems until May. I have experienced KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR and CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED with 0xEF error code. I have booted into Windows PE, and I could not find any disk / partitions with diskpart, testdisk, or other tools. I also have Ubuntu installed multi-booting, and also when I use Ubuntu, Ubuntu suddenly crashes and I can only move the mouse. Then, after a few minutes, it kernel panics. If I try booting it again, it boots up into BusyBox, and if I do "cat /proc/partitions" list avaliable partition

    ughhh! BSOD on boot

    I guess my computer BSOD on boot right before getting to windows. not sure what the problem is though, everything is stable.

    It gave me a list of two files in windows that could have caused the problems

    Windows XP no boot

    I have a no boot issue in windows XP. It just keeps giving me the "no boot device" or something similar. It will boot from the Windows XP Home disk without any issues. I have tried replacing the boot.ini, fixmbr, and fixboot. None of these have worked. I even went so far as to doing the repair by installing Windows XP Home. When it rebooted it still gave me the same reading.

    I can get it to boot from a Paragon Rescue disk though. I am at a loss on this one. My next step is to run a boot virus check I suppose, as this system had over 300 trojans, virus' and malware.

    This is a friends computer that has a bunch of his work related documents so I don't want to reformat or anything unless it has to.

    Can't safely remove external disk

    In reference to the steps of your suggestions:

    • The issue is specific to the particular disk and it started after I've used the disk to save the System image backup (created with the Control Panel > File History tool).
    • I didn't disable any windows Service. I'm just wondering if there is any to disable.
    • Safe boot with networking, or clean boot doesn't resolve the issue.
