Windows 10: Disk Management - All drive options are greyed out

I have a 1TB HDD I'm trying to set up as an external storage drive. Plugged it in, enclosure power light is on and the disk is running, but doesn't show up in My Computer. The drive does show up in Disk Management and in the Device Manager, but literally every option to modify the drive in any way is greyed out. It's also not showing up in diskpart via cmd or in the bios.I've been digging through other community questions regarding certain drive options being greyed out, but can't find anything for a situation where it recognizes a partition yet there's nothing whatsoever I can do to edit the

Thanks for providing the detail that was requested previously. Since the disk management screen that you saw is showing greyed out options, we suggest that you follow the steps below to change the partition type of your internal drive:

• Open Disk Management then right click the partition on the disk you want to covert and select Delete Volume.
• Once you complete the process you will see the whole disk shown as two separate unallocated spaces. Right-click the disk and select Convert to GPT disk.

After the conversion, you will be able to use the whole disk and then you can create new separate partitions.

"Erase this disk" option greyed out

I use DVD+RW's on a daily basis -- writing, erasing, and rewriting. However, recently, the "erase this disk" option in File Explorer is greyed out.

The first time it happened, having failed to find a solution online, I restored my C: partion, which fixed the problem, but is a bit heavy handed.

It's happened again today. I can erase the disk using CDBurnerXP, but that's an extra step which I would like to avoid. It affects all disks, so it's not caused by a faulty disk.

I would appreciate any suggestions for how "erase this disk" could be brought back to life.
