Windows 10: Disk Management an Unexpected Error Has Occurred

I looked at a lot of post on this, but none really fit my circumstances. I have a clean install of Win 11 24H2 build 26100.2605 that is about a month old, everything was fine until yesterday. My K-drive external is normally in a powered off state, and I only turn it on when I need files from it, maybe once in a week or two weeks. I turned the drive on, heard the normal windows USB chime, but then my drive never showed in This PC, I went into disk management, drive shown at the very bottom having no drive letter. Rt. click, all is grayed out except format and change drive letters, I choose

Error: Unexpected Error has occurred, close disk management and restart disk management or computer, while deleting the disk partition on Windows 10

When I try to delete the Linux partition I get a response saying an Unexpected Error has occurred, close disk management and restart disk management or computer. I am trying to remove RHEL 6 and have Windows 10 alone (upgraded from Windows 7 Home Basic)

I am able to locate the partition but am unable to delete the same so as to follow the remaining procedures.

Any pre-requisites that I am missing?

I tried to extend my system partition C by taking some free space from partition E and giving it to C partition so I decided to shrink 50GB from but when I tried to give that space to c partition and right click on c the extend volume was not available
so I try using the 50 GB to make new partition and removing volume in hope the extend volume will be available but won't (notice when I made a new partition there was a message appeared saying something about dynamic partition or dynamic space, unfortunately,
I didn't read it ) now when I tring to shrink some space form any partition there is a message saying " an unexpected error has occurred check the system event log for more information on the error . close the disk management console, then restart disk management
or restart the computer "

 

Disk management console view is not up-to-date

i dont know how to fix your disk management, but i can fix your partition problems...




open up Command Prompt with admin rights. (Right click, run as admin)


enter in
DISKPART
list disk

then find the Disk number for your Raid array... lets call it number 7 ( you can tell what disk is what by the total size)
type in

Select Disk 7
List Partition (will give you a list of all the partitions..)
Select Partition 1 (im assuming you only have 1 partition on Disk 7) repeat this step if you have more partitions.
ASSIGN


that should get the array up and running ready to use.

side question, have you tried restarting the PC?
