  1. Disk management might have corrupted my hdd

I found a hdd I had replaced from my laptop and I thought about using it again. It had 3 partitions (the 500MB system partition, a partition with a Windows instalation and a data partition). I added it as my second drive and all the files were there. On Windows disk management I went to delete the partitions. I was deleting the data partition, but it was taking longer then I expected and it failed saying the partition was being used.

While I was waiting for it to delete the partition, I thought of replacing this hdd with another laptop, so I was actually glad it didn't delete my partition because I could try formating Windows directly from the Windows installed in the hdd, so I replaced the hdd and the laptop didn't recognize it.

I tried putting it back on the previous laptop and it also didn't recognized it anymore. BIOS doesn't recognize it anymore, but disk management does, except it says it is not inicialized and does not show the size and if I try to inialize it it shows an error saying incorrect function.

I've tryed with a few third party software and the only one I found that sees the hdd exactly like disk management does is AOMEI Partition Assitant, but it also can't initialize it.

I actually don't even know how Windows and AOMEI can see the hdd when the BIOS can't.

Does anyone here know what could have happened and if it could be a bug on Windows disk management and what could be done to repair it?

  2. HDD Corrupt ?

    Hi,

There are many possible reasons this issue is happening. We'd like to ask few questions below:

    • What is the brand name of you Hard Disk Drive?
    • How old is the HDD?
Since you already tried multiple troubleshooting steps, we suggest visiting the manufacturer's website. Find and download a hard drive diagnostic software to help resolve the issue.

Let us know how it goes.

  3. HDD in a HDD caddy is not showing up in the disk management

    Hi,

To assist you better, I would like to ask some questions:

    • How are you connecting the HDD Caddy?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?

If you are connecting the device using USB, I suggest you to check if other USB devices are recognized as USB devices or Other device. If it is displaying as other device, then the issue might be with the USB port. So, I suggest you to update the USB drivers
    by following the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X, select Device Manager.
    • Expand Universal Serial Bus Controller.
    • Right click on the drive, select Update Driver Software and follow the on-screen prompts.

Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

  4. Disk management might have corrupted my hdd

Disk management console view is not up-to-date

i dont know how to fix your disk management, but i can fix your partition problems...

open up Command Prompt with admin rights. (Right click, run as admin)

    enter in
    DISKPART
    list disk

then find the Disk number for your Raid array... lets call it number 7 ( you can tell what disk is what by the total size)
    type in

    Select Disk 7
List Partition (will give you a list of all the partitions..)
Select Partition 1 (im assuming you only have 1 partition on Disk 7) repeat this step if you have more partitions.
    ASSIGN

that should get the array up and running ready to use.

    EDITED.

    any problems, post back ^^

Still EDITING *Stick Out Tongue Disk management might have corrupted my hdd :p

side question, have you tried restarting the PC?
