Windows 10: disk optimization

Windows disk optimization needs some work on itr. Sparse files are really problematic evidently so I am wondering of Windows should run the optimizer in the background so that hard disks USB etc are better organized for best performance.Background disk optimizing can be a very low priority task and this would improve performance widely.I use an Orico 5-disk USB-C box which is JBOD and I use the manual optimizer but why not use an automatic process? This could be a big improvement for USB hard disk users.

  In frequency select the options accordingly.

disk optimizing

Hi fussy063, the System Reserved Partition does not need to be optimized, it is managed and maintained by Windows.

If you are using Norton's to optimize your disk(s), remove that partition from the list of partitions to be optimized and everything will be Okay.

  Open files explorer, right click on the disk and select Properties from the drop down. (Perform a disk clean up).

  Click on Tool and click on Optimize button.
  
• Select the disk, click on Analyze and click on Optimize button.
