Windows 10: disk optimizer has greyed out analyze

i am wondering if this is a new thing for windows as i know previous versions prior to windows 10 not noticing this in windows 11 home in the disk optimizer the analyze option is greyed out and has been nice thing to have to determine if you need to defrag or not minus large updates or something added programs or whatever added / installed

Disk optimization on an SSD

Based on your information, yes Windows 10 does disk optimization. Let’s try the defragmenting the disk and check if this helps.

• 
  Open files explorer, right click on the disk and select Properties from the drop down. (Perform a disk clean up).
  
• 
  Click on Tool and click on Optimize button.
  
• Select the disk, click on Analyze and click on Optimize button.

Using Analyze and Optimize manually

I understand that you cannot optimize you’re drive manually as Analyze and optimize buttons are

greyed out I will make sure to help you with this issue.

I would suggest you to run sfc scan and check if it helps:



The “sfc /scannow” command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.



a) Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard and select “Command Prompt (Admin)” from
that menu.

b) On the command prompt window, type the following command, and then press “Enter”



sfc /scannow



c) Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the scan.



If the issue persist then I would suggest you to repair a drive:

Win 10 Disk Optimization program doesn't work.

After the Anniversary upgrade, Disk Optimization does not optimize per it's schedule. My C Drive is an SSD, my Data D: Drive is an HDD. the HDD optimizes automatically, as per the schedule. The C: Drive does not. It just says "OK" and the date it last
optimized. Also, "Analyze" is greyed out for the SSD, so I can't analyze. It is not greyed out for the D: HDD.

Can someone explain what is happening?
